Initial message:
In time I joined dA, fav was a valuable and rare thing to get. As you can imagine they were mostly a thought-over gifts, given as an addiction to comment to show respect to artist.. but now dA community grew bigger and things changed. The mass of works that are being uploaded on the website made it hard to give same amount of time for a singular work as before. Favorites became a way of marking pictures and keeping them in one place. Their often usage destroys their meaning.. Now we are left alone with favs, wondering why is that the person likes our work, which part does he/she likes.. or it's just a thing that friends do.. because they are friends, right?.. Wouldn't it be a better gift to give a good feedback from time to time rather then flood your friend with countless favs? Think about it! What would you like more?

Then again some people seek improvement, some wish for help and I know it's hard, or even impossible, to find mistakes in your own stuff! We need critique.. or we will be stuck, repeating same mistakes over and over again.. Really, don't defend yourself against it! I've been there and I regret I've done that! No one want you to feel bad! We learn all our life, often on mistakes, don't give up, stand up, go forward and you will get far! ^^

One more important thing. Recent comments I've been getting on this stamp made me stop and think. Most of you agree with me, you like to get comments but then I ask myself.. do you give them too? If everyone will only want and no one will give.. do you realize in what vicious circle we are being in? So for all of you who seek good feedback: do not forget to take part in giving it! I believe you will not only receive great replies but also you will gain interest of others in you and your work, motivate them to give something back! Hope you will think about it as I did! I've also only kept on wishing to get comments. Now with every visit to dA I try to comment more and more and even though I often fail, I keep on trying and I know as long as I'll be trying only positive things can happen!

AND HEY! DO NOT BE SCARED TO GIVE A COMMENT!!!
Every single person who commented on this stamp awaits comments! I believe that every self-respecting artist will appreciate your comment! Don't be afraid, stand up and say what you feel! Give critique and try to discuss rather then fight! Often I try to give my best in writing feedback, always have those questions in my mind: am I even skilled enough to say that? Or is that thing that I say even true (for instance when pointing out some mistakes)? What will that person think about me?.. So far I've got replies that only lightened up my heart, even from people I'd never have thought to get answer back! Believe me it's worth it!

If there's a work which is perfect in your eyes, just try to describe what you're feeling, what is that is so great about it. Maybe colors, shapes, topic or message within it? Anything! Not only does it broadens your mind but also, believe me, such comments are greatest gifts you can give to other artists. Wouldn't you like to receive the same thing? Think: what would you like to hear?

Ok, ok.. but what about grammar mistakes then?.. oh, maaan!.. look at this text XD I'm 100% sure it's filled with them.. don't worry, people will understand you, it can only make them giggle for a bit and then they will forget it. Do you remember other people mistakes? I don't and if they will correct you - then what? - just take it as a good lesson! Maybe you will remember it and next time you just gonna smile and write things correctly (or maybe not )

Basically, chill out! Stress is unhealthy

You are the one to make a difference! Start by changing yourself! Spare some more time on commenting and spread the love!

Hey, hey! what about some GAME!
How about a little exercise in writing good feedback? Are you up for a little game? People are complaining on a lack of comments so I thought we could exercise a bit writing them and see that it's really great thing to give and receive thoughtful comments, so for that I'd like to create a COMMENT MEME! (hah! sorry if there is already such thing, never came across it but we can make another one, can't we? )

So to the simple rules:

Lets say that first 10 people who will comment this journal agreeing to participate will get long, critic including comments on 5 of their works, I guess you could suggest pieces to be commented as good as they could be just randomly picked by commenter. Then those 10 people would write journal telling about this 'meme' by which it would be passed to larger amount of people.. I hope

I think it would be really educative thing, we should not close ourself only for our own art, by noticing other people good and bad sides we learn and help those artists as well! And we are just lacking so badly good comments at devART! Take a part of this small game and maybe we will be able to make a difference! ^^

Feel free to open the meme even without getting into that first 10 people list! I know you'd start without comments on your pieces but then you could try to get on lists form people that were willing to enter No one is forcing you to repeat it either but if you're willing to then go ahead! More comments = more fun XD
